Location

The ‘Anvil Creek’ site is strategically located one kilometre to the south of Greta Village in the lower Hunter Valley Wine Country, and is approximately 2 hours driving time from Sydney.

Currently, to access the Hunter Valley vineyards and the site from Sydney or Newcastle is via Kurri Kurri, Cessnock or the New England Highway. However, the Hunter Expressway, which is under construction and due for completion in 2013, will deliver visitors directly to the site and reduce travel time from Sydney to 1.5 hours and from Newcastle to less than 40 minutes.

The site is also adjacent to regional transport networks including the Main Northern Railway that forms the eastern boundary of the site. Greta Train Station is located one kilometre to the northwest and has two morning and two afternoon passenger services that stop at Greta as well as an express service. Freight trains have approximately 120 train movements per day (2004) on the same line.

Anvil Creek is 15 minutes drive from Cessnock Airport and 20 minutes from Maitland and Cessnock, providing easy access to major supermarkets, retail outlets, medical facilities and other essential services. Newcastle Airport is approximately 45 minutes away and provides direct flights to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.
